Even now, the fact that it's a on-time price structure, versus a "yearly subscription" fee (like all too many anti-virus software program are) … is a great value. I looked into many anti-virus programs but found "ClamXav" to be one of the best ( especially when it was free, of course).
"ClamXax" is simple to use and to keep updated for the latest virus scans. The program has regular updates to it's virus data base … and I have found it a great anti-virus program for using on all my Macs. It used to be a free application, but now the developer has a one-time price of $29.95 ( for individual use).
I have been using the anti-virus application "ClamXav" for years now ( on both my previous eMac, and now on my 2013 iMac, and have just installed it on my new 2015 13" MacBook Pro Retina as well).
